Basic effects are the static effects affecting each character of the text; these are:

Shadow

This effect adds a shadow behind the characters:

Effect_Shadow

The shadow effect has the following parameters:

Effect_Shadow_parameters
  • Distance – specifies the distance between the characters and their shadow.

  • Direction – determines the angle, at which the shadow will fall. You can enter the value manually or use the dial on the right.

  • Enlarge – specifies the size of the shadow (0..10).

  • Blur – specifies the range of the shadow diffusion (0..15).

  • Color – specifies the color of the shadow. Move the sliders to change the values of the RGB and alpha channels or define them manually via the keyboard or using the spin controls. You can also choose the color by specifying its hexadecimal value or using the color wheel. The summary of the color parameters is displayed on the right of the "Color" button.

Border

This effect adds a border around each character of the text.

Effect_Border

The border effect has the following parameters:

Effect_Border_parameters
  • Enlarge – specifies the size of the border (0..10).

  • Color – specifies the color of the border. Move the sliders to change the values of the RGB and alpha channels or define them manually via the keyboard or using the spin controls. You can also choose the color by specifying its hexadecimal value or using the color wheel. The summary of the color parameters is displayed on the right of the "Color" button.

Glow

This effect adds a glow that emanates from the outside of each character of the text.

Effect_Glow

The glow effect has the following parameters:

Effect_Glow_parameters
  • Enlarge – specifies the size of the glow (0..10).

  • Blur – specifies the range of the glow diffusion (0..15).

  • Color – specifies the color of the glow. Move the sliders to change the values of the RGB and alpha channels or define them manually via the keyboard or using spin controls. You can also choose the color by specifying its hexadecimal value or using a color wheel. The summary of the color parameters is displayed on the right of the "Color" button.

Bevel

This effect adds a chamfer around each character of the text.

Effect_Bevel

The bevel effect has the following parameters:

Effect_Bevel_parameters
  • Enlarge – specifies the chamfer size (0..10).

  • Direction – determines the angle, at which the shadow of the chamfer will fall. You can enter the value manually or use the dial on the right.

Text Sizing

This effect adds the ability to change the size and kerning of the text if the green object frame is big enough. To expand the frame borders, drag its handles to the desired position.

Effect_text_sizing_before

Effect_text_sizing_after

Before the text-sizing effect is applied

After the text-sizing effect is applied

The text sizing effect has the following parameters:

Effect_text_sizing_parameters
  • Limit text to single line (no wrapping) – if this option is selected, the text will be fit into one line. If there is a lot of text in the object, only a part of it will be shown as a single line.

  • Truncate excess text with ellipsis (…) – if this option is selected, ellipsis will be shown instead of the text that does not fit into the green object frame.

  • Priority – define the parameter of higher priority – either text size or kerning – choosing the corresponding option from the drop-down list.

  • Dimensions – define what will be affected by the text sizing effect – width and height or width only – choosing the corresponding option from the drop-down list.

  • Min Size – determines minimum size to which the text can be scaled down.

  • Preferred Size – determines maximum size to which the text can be scaled up.

  • Min Kern – determines minimum kerning value for the text.

  • Preferred Kern – determines maximum kerning value for the text.

Chamfer

This effect converts a sharp corner of the image to a rounded corner.

Effect_Chamfer

The chamfer effect has the following parameter:

Effect_Chamfer_parameters
  • Value – specifies the radius of the rounded corner.

On the "Geometry" tab, you can specify the corner roundness in the "Resolution" field. If the resolution value is set to 1, the corner will look flat.

Resolution

Blur

This effect blurs the image edges.

Effect_Blur

The blur effect has the following parameter:

Effect_Blur_parameters
  • Value – specifies the thickness of the blurred border.

Mask

This effect can be applied to a plate or an image object contained in a group to allow partial or total occlusion of other objects in this group. Objects can be occluded within the body of the scene by a mask – allowing items to appear on screen from any position, or to remove sections from an object.

With the "Mask" effect applied, the luminance value of the object acting as a mask defines the appearance of all other underlying objects: a white pixel of the mask makes the target pixel completely visible, a black pixel of the mask makes a target pixel opaque.

The mask effect has the following parameter:

Effect_Mask_parameters

Select the "Invert" option to use the reversed mask.

For example, a group contains an image and a white color plate object with 80% opacity. The given example illustrates both variants of applying the mask effect:

Effect_Mask

No effects applied

"Mask" effect is applied to a plate

"Invert" option is selected for the effect

All the objects outside the group remain visible regardless of whether they are in the background or foreground respectively to the group.
