Defragmentation

Note
This is an on-line operation.

The fragmentation of the system indexes affects the SQL Server performance significantly. Monitor the status daily to keep your indexes tidy.

Caution
Defragmentation must be done on the minimum SQL Server load to avoid affecting the users' work.

All highly fragmented indexes will be shown in red; medium fragmented indexes – in yellow. Also check "% of fragmentation" to see the fragmentation level. Highly fragmented indexes are automatically checked. Press the "Defragment" button to start the defragmentation process.
