Creating the Schedule

Having configured engines, you can start creating the schedule for capturing materials. Recordings can be assigned in the "Planner" tab:

planner_schedule_filled

Interface

The "Planner" tab displays all configured engines and engine groups as well as a time scale.

Select the required date using the calendar pop-up:

planner_calendar

For quick navigation between adjacent dates, use the arrow buttons. To go to today’s date, use the "today" link. The "Go to today" command is also available from the empty cell context menu.

The non-business hours are highlighted in gray in the table view. To show only business hours, press the "Show business hours…" button. To get back to the full time scale, use the "Show 24 hours…" button. The same commands are available from the empty cell context menu.

The schedule can be displayed in day, week, or month scale. Select the corresponding setting in top-right corner of the table view:

Date_scale

Use the "Show" drop-down list to choose which engine or engine group will be shown in the main calendar. With the "All Engines" option selected, the calendar will show all the available engines; similarly, selecting the "All Engines Groups" will display all the available engine groups:

show_available_engines

To increase/decrease the scale spacing, use the Increase_timescale and Decrease_timescale buttons correspondingly.

Recordings Scheduling

New recordings are configured in the "Planner" tab. They can be planned individually for a certain engine as well as for the whole engine group.

Scheduling Recording for a Single Engine

Choose the desired engine from the "Show" drop-down list. The time scale will show only the selected engine. To plan a new recording, double-click the required time cell; the following window will appear:

New_planned_task

This command is also available from the context menu appearing when you right-click an empty cell in the table view:

Cell_RCM

In the "New Recording" form, specify the recording name. The engine for processing should be selected from the "Engine" drop-down list. The start and end date, as well as the time for the recording, can be specified using the corresponding calendar and time view pop-ups or entering the desired values via the keyboard to the dedicated fields. You can also add a description to your recording into the corresponding field. Use the "Template" drop-down list to select an engine template for your recording session.

Note
The template list comprises only valid engine templates.
Events

Cinegy Capture Planner Manager allows users to add events to the recording task which are controllable via the secondary events through Cinegy Event Manager.

Note
Refer to the Event Presets article in the Cinegy Capture Manager Manual to learn about events configuration.

add_button

Press this button to add a secondary event to your recording.

In the window that appears, set up the parameters for your secondary event:

add_event
Note
Refer to the Events paragraph in the Cinegy Capture Control Manual to learn about secondary events configuration.

Having specified the needed parameters, press the apply_route to apply or cancel_apply_route to discard the changes.

Metadata
Planner_Metadata

Check the "Metadata" option and specify the following parameters:

  • Comments – general comments describing the recording being scheduled.

  • Roll name – the name of the Roll(s) to be created during the recording session.

  • Clip name – the name of the clip(s) to be created during the recording session.

  • Traffic ID – the Traffic ID of the material to be created during the recording session.

When Traffic ID is specified (not empty), Cinegy Capture searches for the node in Cinegy Archive database with the most recent modification date and the corresponding Traffic ID assigned. When a Placeholder Roll with the specified Traffic ID is found, media is recorded to the placeholder.

In case no placeholder with the corresponding Traffic ID is found in the Cinegy Archive database, a new Roll is created as a target one for the recording session in the usual way.

    Note
If the Traffic ID is not specified, the recording session proceeds in a typical way with a new Roll being created in Cinegy Archive.
    Important
Refer to the Placeholder MOGs article for more information on working with placeholders within Cinegy Desktop.
  • Description – the description of the clip(s) to be created during the recording session.

Recurrence

To repeat the same recording more than once, select the "Recurrence" checkbox and set up the recurrence parameters on the panel below the checkbox:

Planner_recurrence
Important
Refer to the Recurrence Tab paragraph in the Cinegy Capture Control Manual to learn how to set up the planned recording recurrence.

Having configured all the parameters, press the "Save" button to create the scheduled recording.

Scheduling Recording for Engine Groups

To schedule a recording for engine groups, select the required engine group from the "Show" drop-down list and double-click the required time cell; the "New Recording" window appears:

New_engine_group_recording
Caution
Make sure the Planner Host service and Cinegy Capture Archive Adapter are started and the Cinegy Capture engine is running.

Choose the required engine group from the list of available engine groups and specify the name, start/end date as well as description of the recording.

Check the "Templates" option and use the drop-down list to select engine templates for your recording session:

Templates_Engine_Group

Select the "Routing" checkbox and enter the source name to switch the input stream to this source for the relevant Capture engine:

Planner_Routing
Note
The routing source name will be displayed as a tooltip for the recordings using routing.

Configure the "Metadata" and "Recurrence" parameters.

The "Submit as approved" checkbox controls the recording approval. If checked, it indicates that the recording is approved and ready for capturing. Otherwise, it means the recording is pending for the operator’s approval and requires update or improvement.

Having configured all the parameters of the recording being created, press the "Save" button to create the scheduled recording.

The block representing the scheduled task will be located on the time scale according to the specified time. The task scheduled within the specific engine group is additionally displayed with the following icon:

Planner_Task_idle

In the recording description the information on the target group the task was created for is provided.

Note
Please note that editing engine groups recordings is possible when switching to the corresponding engine group view.

If the date or time defined is already expired, you will be warned about it with the following alert message:

expired_alert

If the time you have defined overlaps another planned recording, you will be warned about it with the following alert message:

overlap_alert

Working with Blocks

The recording blocks differ in color depending on the status of the recording.

Once the recording has been created and marked as approved, it is displayed in blue, indicating the idle status. This means that the recording is being initialized:

Appointment_blue_with_tooltip

If the created recording has not been approved yet, it is displayed in yellow until it is approved by operator:

Appointment_yellow_with_tooltip
Note
To approve the recording, double-click it or use the "Edit" command from its context menu and check the "Submit as approved" option. The "Submit as approved" option is not displayed for already approved recordings.

A light-blue block coloring means that the recording is waiting to be processed at the specified start time:

Appointment_light_blue_with_tooltip

An orange block coloring indicates that the recording is being processed:

Appointment_orange_with_tooltip

A green block coloring indicates successful completion of the recording session:

Appointment_green_with_tooltip

A red block coloring indicates failure during the recording processing:

Appointment_red_with_tooltip

Recordings Editing

To edit a recording, double-click it in the schedule or choose the "Edit" command from the recording context menu; the following dialog appears:

Edit_appointment

In the "Edit Recording" dialog define new recording parameters.

With the "Recurrence" option enabled, all the instances of the recurring recording will be edited at once.

Press "Save" to apply the changes.

The pen icon icon appears on the recording block indicating that the recording has been edited and the tooltip will display the information about the user who has edited this recording:

Appointment_edited

The loop icon icon appears on the recording block meaning that the recording is configured to repeat at the specified time.

Recurring_recording

For a quick change of the start and end time drag the top or bottom margin of the block, the cursor will turn into 2point_arrow to change the block size. The whole block can be rescheduled via dragging to the desired position or even to another virtual engine; while dragging, the cursor turns into 4point_arrow .

It is possible to change/extend the end recording time for live shows, even if it has already started. It is not allowed to enter the end time earlier than the current time or intersecting with the start time of the next scheduled task. It cannot be set less than 5 seconds before the start of the next task.

To remove a recording, use the "Delete" context menu command. To remove all the instances of the recurring recording at once, use the "Delete all series" context menu command.
