Archive Ingest / Import profiles are used to convert media into Rolls within the Cinegy Archive database.

Configure the profile in the following window that appears:

Note
In case of error detection, e.g., blank mandatory fields, a red indicator appears specifying their number. In case of any inconsistency detection, a yellow indicator appears specifying their number. Hovering the mouse pointer over the indicator displays a tooltip describing the problem(s).

In this dialog, the Cinegy Archive Service connection should be configured as well as general transcoding session parameters should be defined.

Important
Cinegy Convert supports the automatic execution of PowerShell scripts. Please refer to the Scripting article for details on their configuration.

Generic Configuration

In the "Generic" group, define the following parameters:

Generic_parameters
  • Name – define the profile name.

  • Description – enter the profile description, if needed.

  • Import mode – use the drop-down list to define a Roll creation rule for your import session:

    Import_mode
    • One Roll per clip – a new Roll is created for each transcoding session regardless of whether there is already a Roll with the specified name in the Cinegy Archive database or not.

    • One Roll per day – all clips imported on a particular day will be recorded into a single Roll.

    • Single – all clips selected for import will be recorded into a single Roll.

      Note
      If the "Roll name template" option is defined for this profile, then a Roll with the specified name will be searched for in the Cinegy Archive database and, if found, used for import. If a macro is specified for the Roll name template within the "Database" configuration group, the corresponding Roll creation rule is applied, regardless of import mode defined.
  • Placeholders processing – use the drop-down list to define the way of processing the Placeholder Roll (a special type of Roll with a predefined TV format, start timecode, and duration used as a temporary substitution for source media that has not yet been imported; it is transformed into a Roll after the import process is complete):

    Placeholders
    • Ignore – a new Roll will be created ignoring Placeholder Roll processing;

    • Create new Roll – a TV format of incoming media will be compared with the TV format of the Placeholder Roll. If they match, the import will be executed to the Placeholder Roll; otherwise, a new Roll will be created;

    • Change TV format – a TV format of the Placeholder Roll will be updated to match the TV format of the incoming media; the import will be executed to the Placeholder Roll;

    • Abort processing – the import task is terminated as failed with the error message added to the task result.

      Important
      Refer to the Traffic Program ID Processing paragraph in the CineLink File Support Manual for the technical explanation of Placeholder Roll processing.

Database

In the "Database" group, define the following parameters:

  • Video format – define the target TV format by selecting the checkbox next to the "Detect from source" field. If this option is not set, the TV format will be automatically detected from the original file.

    Alternatively, select the desired TV format from the drop-down list:

  • Audio type – define the Mono or Stereo audio type allocation scheme. Press the Profile_Editor_Cinegy_Archive_config_button icon to launch the "Archive audio allocation editor" dialog. Select the Mono audio model from the "Audio type" drop-down list:

    Then press the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon next to each of the 16 audio allocation descriptors and select the required option from the menu:

    Choose the "Not in use" option to disable track creation.

    When the Stereo audio model is selected, the following track options are available:

  • Target folder – define the folder path within your Cinegy Archive database in which converted Roll(s) will be created. To do this, press the Profile_Editor_Cinegy_Archive_config_button icon and browse for the required folder in the explorer tree:

  • Media group – use the drop-down list to select the media group for transcoding files in the Cinegy Archive database.

  • Roll name template – define the template for new Roll name generation. Its default value is {target.name} - {time}. Macros can be used in this field.

  • Clip name template – define the template for new clip name generation. Its default value is {time}. Macros can be used in this field.

  • File name template – define the file naming template. This field is mandatory. Its default value is {src.name}. Macros can be used in this field.

    Note
    Please note that a unique ID will be automatically appended to the file name to avoid potential clashes with the existing files on the disk.
  • Descriptors – define the Cinegy Archive descriptors mapping for the profile. By default, descriptors are not configured, which is indicated in the field value Clip (0), Roll (0), where the figure in brackets corresponds to the number of descriptors defined.

    Press the Profile_Editor_Cinegy_Archive_config_button icon to launch the "Archive target metadata editor" dialog for editing descriptors for master clips and Rolls on the dedicated tabs:

    Press "OK" to apply changes and exit the dialog.

    Important
    The source and task macros and environment variables are supported for this parameter. Refer to the Macros article for details on how to use supported macros and where they are applicable.
    Note
    The list of ingest metadata fields depends on your database settings.
  • Archive schema – define the transcoding scheme to be used to convert media into multiple quality levels concurrently during a single transcoding session. To do this, click Add_new_task to expand the "Archive schema" block, then press the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon next to the required quality field and use the "Set" command to set the default Cinegy Archive schema for respective quality:

    Tip
    Alternatively, the archive schema configuration can be accessed by pressing the icon next to the "Archive schema" field and choosing "Edit".

    You can manually redefine video and audio encoders of configured qualities by pressing the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon and using the "Edit" command.

    Important
    Refer to the Profile Configuration paragraph for a detailed description of the encoders' configuration.
    Note
    By default, the PCM encoder is used in the audio profile, but for web quality, it should be changed to AAC to be compatible with MP4 format.

Source Transform

Source_transform
  • Video aspect – define the aspect ratio of the video stream by choosing either 4:3 or 16:9 or selecting "Keep Original" for the original aspect ratio of the source media.

  • Audio mapping – press the Profile_Editor_browse icon in the "Audio mapping" field and paste the "AudioMatrix" section from the XML file generated by Cinegy Air Audio Profile Editor into "XML editor":

    Alternatively, you can paste the "AudioMatrix" section from the XML file generated by Cinegy Air Audio Profile Editor into "XML editor".
  • Linear Acoustic UpMax – click the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon next to the "Linear Acoustic UpMax" field and then press the "Create" button to map a stereo track in the source file into 5.1 track with the following options:

    • Algorithm – choose the upmixing algorithm type;

      Note
      Further parameters depend on the algorithm type selected.
    • LFE Crossover Frequency – define the crossover frequency to extract the low-frequency (LF) signal routed to the low-frequency effects (LFE) channel.

      Note
      This option is only topical for the "Stereo to 5.1" algorithm.
    • Midbass Crossover Frequency – define the crossover frequency used to split the phase-correlated signal into low-frequency (LF) and high-frequency (HF) bands;

    • LFE Routing – define the amount of the low-frequency (LF) signal routed back to the center channel;

    • LFE Playback Gain – used in combination with "Midbass Crossover Frequency" and "LFE Routing" to properly set the LFE signal level;

      Note
      The "LFE Routing" and "LFE Playback Gain" options are only topical for the "Stereo to 5.1" algorithm.
    • LF Center Width – define the routing of the low-frequency (LF) band across the center, left and right channels;

    • HF Center Width – define the routing of the high-frequency (HF) band across the center, left and right channels;

    • Cycles Per Octave – define the number of cycles per octave;

    • Min Comb Filter Frequency – define the min comb filter frequency;

    • Comb Filter Level – define the comb filter level;

    • Front Rear Balance Factor – define the extracted 2-channels side component distribution for left, left surround, right, and right surround channels;

      Note
      This option is only topical for the "Stereo to 5.1" algorithm.
    • Center Gain – define a level change to the center channel signal;

    • Rear Channels Downmix Level – define the rear channels' downmix level.

      Note
      This option is only topical for the "Stereo to 5.1" algorithm.
    • Front Gain (Legacy) – define a level change to the front channel signal for the legacy algorithm.

    • Center Gain (Legacy) – define a level change to the center channel signal for the legacy algorithm.

    • LFE Gain (Legacy) – define a level change to the LFE channel signal for the legacy algorithm.

    • Rear Gain (Legacy) – define a level change to the rear channel signal for the legacy algorithm.

      Note
      The options marked as legacy are only topical for the "Stereo to 5.1 legacy" algorithm.
      Note
      An additional Linear Acoustic UpMax license is required for processing tasks with Linear Acoustic upmixing.
      Important
      Refer to the Linear Acoustic UpMax Installation and Setup article for details regarding Linear Acoustics UpMax functionality deployment.
  • XDS Insertion – provides the Extended Data Service (XDS) data insertion into VANC streams. Click the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon next to the "XDS Insertion" field and press the "Create" button; then set up the XDS processing options:

    • Program Name – define the program name (title).

      Note
      This parameter is optional and is not set by default. To use it, click the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon next to the "Program Name" field and press the "Create" button.
      Note
      The length of the "Program Name" field is limited from 2 to 32 characters.
    • Network Name – define the network name (affiliation) associated with the local channel.

      Note
      This parameter is optional and is not set by default. To use it, click the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon next to the "Network Name" field and press the "Create" button.
      Note
      The length of the "Network Name" field is limited from 2 to 32 characters.
    • Call Letters – define the call letters (station ID) of the local broadcasting station.

    • Content Advisory System – select the content advisory rating system from the drop-down list.

      Note
      Having selected the Content Advisory System, choose the required content rating from the drop-down list below.
  • Burnt-in timecode – select this option to overlay the timecode onto the resulting video. Click the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon next to the "Burnt-in timecode" field and press the "Create" button; then set up the Burnt-in timecode options:

    • Background color – click on this field and select the desired color of the timecode background.

    • Font family – define the appropriate font family. To do this, use the keyboard to enter the name of the font installed on the current computer.

    • Font size – choose the font size from the corresponding drop-down list.

    • Font style – choose the font style for the timecode.

    • Initial timecode – define the initial timecode values. To set initial timecode to zero, click the Profile_Editor_Edit_icon icon.

    • Position – define the position of the timecode on the screen by choosing between "Bottom" and "Top".

    • Text color – click on this field and select the desired color for the timecode.

Having defined all the profile parameters, press "OK"; the configured profile will be added to the list.
