Digital Video (DV) provides a compressed stream of 25, 50, 100 megabits per second and considerable quality. The DV is a much less CPU-demanding task than working with MPEG-2. Normally, this will still leave enough power to add one Internet-quality Windows Media stream to the ingest station.
Press the setup button of one of the DV encoder plug-ins in the Cinegy Ingest window:
The following "DV Encoder Setup" dialog box appears:
Here define the encoding engine type that will be used for the DV encoding of the standard definition video. The following DV encoders are available:
Cinegy DV Encoder SD
Cinegy DV Encoder DV25
Cinegy DV Encoder DV50
Video for Windows Codec
Select the "Video for Windows Codec" option to choose one of the installed VFW compatible codecs from the list. Press the "Configure…" button to set up its configuration.
Only VFW codecs with FOURCC = "DVSD", " dvsd", "SLDV", "dv25", " dv50" are available to be used for the DV SD encoding.
Microsoft Encoder uses only default local settings that cannot be modified.
If the chosen codec supports this property, you can set the compression quality manually. A high value leads to a better quality and to slower compression speed as well.
Invert Fields Order
Select the "Invert fields order" option to reverse the field order.
Here define the encoding engine type that will be used for the DV encoding of the high definition video.
Set the "Cinegy DV Encoder" option to use this encoder or the "Video for Windows Codec" option to choose the VFW compatible codec the same way you did for SD video.
Only VFW codecs with FOURCC = "dvh1" are available to be used for the DV HD encoding.
The "Direct Transcoding" checkbox provides the ingest of the video in DV format without re-encoding. Select the "Direct Transcoding" option to enable this mode:
If video is not in DV format, only audio will be ingested when "Direct Transcoding" is enabled.
The use of the direct transcoding mode disables all other configuration.
In order to configure the remote settings for the DV encoder, do the following:
Disable the "Direct Transcoding" mode.Note
The "Remote settings" configuration is disabled in the direct transcoding mode.
Press the "Remote settings…" button. The following dialog box appears:
Select the "Use the remote server" checkbox to enable the remote server; choose the Server ID you would like to use as a remote server and press "OK".
This feature allows you to set up the desired number of frames for the output buffer.
To add the timecode in the form of a running clock superimposed over the encoding footage, select the "Superimpose timecodes to the frames (encoding only)" option.
