The Material Exchange Format (MXF) encoder is a combined video/audio codec that produces mono audio and does not use an audio pair:

This encoder is available only for Mono Audio encoding model.

It was designed specifically to ingest essences and create the wrapper MXF files.


Press the setup button of one of the MXF encoder plug-ins in the Cinegy Ingest window:


The following "MXF encoder setup" dialog box appears:


Here you can define the standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) compression settings that will be used for the MXF encoding.

The following standard definition compression settings are available:

  • DV SD

  • DV 25

  • DVCPRO 50

  • IMX 30

  • IMX 40

  • IMX 50

The following high definition compression settings are available:

  • Avid DNxHD 120/145

  • Avid DNxHD 185/220

  • DVCPRO 100

Remote Settings

In order to configure the remote settings for the currently defined codec, do the following:

  1. Press the "Remote settings…​" button. The following dialog box appears:

  2. Select the "Use the remote server" checkbox to enable the remote server; choose the Server ID you would like to use as a remote server and press "OK".

Superimpose Timecodes

To add the timecode in the form of a running clock superimposed over the encoding footage, select the "Superimpose timecodes to the frames (encoding only)" option.

Direct Transcoding

The "Direct Transcoding" checkbox provides the ingest of the video in DV format without re-encoding. Select the "Direct Transcoding" option to enable this mode.
