The explorer interface resembles the familiar interface of Windows Explorer to make it easier for you to use.

Opening and Closing the Items

Click a small plus sign on the left of the item to expand it, or click a minus sign to collapse the item:

You can also use the + and keys.

Double-click an item to open the corresponding bin window. Each bin window is opened in a new tab.

Creating a New Item

Right-click the object in which you would like to create a new item. In the menu that appears, select the "New" command; another sub-menu appears, containing the list of the items you are permitted to create inside the selected parent object:

Note
You can only create items inside non-terminal objects.

Renaming an Item

To rename the selected object, right-click it and then use the "Rename" command.

The following dialog box will appear:

Enter a new name and press "OK" or hit Enter to apply the changes.

Note
You can use any symbols in any language in item names.

Copying an Item

You can copy a terminal item in the tree to another location with the "Copy" and "Paste" commands.

1. Right-click the item you need to copy and choose the "Copy" context menu command or use the Ctrl+C shortcut.

2. Right-click the desired folder in the tree and choose the "Paste" context menu command or use the Ctrl+V shortcut.

Note
You need to have permission to create all the required types of objects and sub-objects in the new location in order to copy and paste an item.

Moving a Part of the Tree

You can move a part of the tree to a different location with the "Cut" and "Paste" commands.

1. Right-click the item you need to move and choose the "Cut" context menu command or use the Ctrl+X shortcut.

2. Right-click the desired folder in the tree and choose the "Paste" context menu command or use the Ctrl+V shortcut.

Note
You need to have permission to create all the required types of objects in the new location and permission to delete them in the old location, in order to move the sub-tree.

Deleting an Item or a Part of the Tree

Right-click the item and choose the "Delete" context menu command or select the item and hit the Delete key. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion.

Note
You need to have permission to delete all the required types of objects in the selected folder in order to delete an item or the sub-tree.

Locked Items

Items can be unlocked via Cinegy Enterprise Manager.

Refer to the Nodes Explorer article in the Cinegy Enterprise Manager Manual to learn how to unlock Cinegy Archive database nodes.

An item can be locked in different ways:

Read_only_icon

A green letter R marker means that the item is read-only.

locked_icon

The lock icon signals that the item is locked by another user. If a Roll is being ingested in Cinegy Desktop, a lock is used to show this status. When ingest is completed, the lock will be removed after refreshing the explorer tree or reopening the parent node.

If a Roll is locked by another user, you can see who has locked it by looking at the tool tip of the master clip:
