Hello and welcome to the latest releases of Cinegy Air v24.11 and Cinegy Title v24.11.

What’s New in Cinegy Air v24.11

After a great deal of hard work by our development, quality assurance, and documentation teams, we are proud to present the shiny new Cinegy Air v24.11! Each team has contributed their expertise to deliver a high-quality and polished product for our users.

This document highlights some key updates, but please refer to the release notes for a comprehensive list of changes and additions across the various Cinegy Air components. Additionally, ensure careful attention to the recommended and verified operating systems and drivers.

Major Changes

This is a list of major category changes in Cinegy Air v24.11 some of which have been eagerly awaited and some you didn’t even know you needed. Enjoy, in no particular order:

  • Support for Intel and AMD encoding and decoding

  • New Cinegy Air counters floating panel, allowing detailed additional counters

  • Additional field for the planned start time of an item in the playlist

  • Introduction of the new Cinegy Air Control Service application, currently in its beta stage, is part of the preparation for the removal of WebAPI.exe, driven by general architectural changes

  • New "Preferences" item safety option, Shift+left-click to move items in playlist

  • SCTE Listener masking option, preventing rogue triggers from firing off SCTE actions

  • Improved the Cinegy Air installer by fixing the automatic reboot issue caused by missing Windows dependencies

  • Cinegy Event Manager now uses 64-bit architecture

  • Various small operational additions to the timeline and playlist displays

  • Increased the maximum number of inputs via Blackmagic Design boards

Warnings and Caution

There are a few things that we need people to read and understand, before performing any in-place upgrades, please read and understand these statements:

  • Please be aware that the intention is to drop support for Aircontol.exe once the functionality is fully tested in later versions of Air. This means that we are hereby deprecating Aircontrol.exe to be replaced by the new Air Control Service and future release versions of the Cinegy Air installer will no longer contain this element.

    Important
If you require assistance or more detail then please contact Cinegy Professional Services who will be happy to advise on a way to transition to the new workflow service for APIs.
  • Once a system is upgraded to Cinegy Air v24.11 from Cinegy Air v21.9 or earlier, the settings files will be updated and will no longer be compatible with earlier versions. Please ensure all settings are backed up before upgrading in case of any requirement to rollback.

    Note
If updating from v14, please also read the equivalent section for v21.2 before updating here.

Deeper Dive

This release of Cinegy Air introduces several effective operational enhancements, particularly on the control side. The addition of new floating pop-out panels enables the creation of new GUIs without altering the core visual layout of the control surface you know and (mostly) love.

As part of the first iterations, three additional clock counters have been added to the pop-out panel. These counters can display the time to any single highlighted item in the playlist, the next sequential live event in the playlist, and the difference between the planned and actual start time, as defined in the new "Planned Start" column (which is optionally selectable in the custom layout).

For those of you using the APIs for the Cinegy Air control application, we are changing the way we deliver these. This version deprecates the old APIs in preparation for the new Swagger APIs within the modern cross-platform Cinegy Air Control Service. This transition will allow us to add more options, expand the available control APIs, and align both our cloud and on-premise versions. If this change impacts your workflow, please contact us, and we will assist with the transition to ensure a smooth experience with later releases.

Note
Please be aware that to combine both versions of the API workflows, we have had to stop the automatic startup of the legacy API through the .exe file, and it will now need to be started manually if still required. The engine/playout APIs will not be affected by this change, which is specific to the control surface.

For those of you prone to accidentally moving items in the playlist, then we have introduced an optional Shift+left-click protocol before items can be selected and moved. This option is available in a tick box under "Preferences":

Prefernces

Finally, you will notice that for the first time, Cinegy Air has begun supporting Intel and AMD encoding and decoding. This is an ongoing introduction of support for these processors and may not be fully supportive of all resolutions and codecs to begin with. Please do read the known issues section relating to this introduction and approach workflows with care.

Important
In addition to the regular updates included in the documentation package for Cinegy Air components, we’ve undertaken an extensive enhancement of the documentation for Cinegy Studio and Cinegy CG. These improvements are designed to make it easier for users to navigate the content and quickly find the information they need. Please do make the effort to read through any elements of interest, as we are sure you will find them beneficial and illuminating.

Cinegy CG and Title

Gratitude is extended to co-product manager Burak Soyak for contributing the following enhancements to the graphic elements within the renewed Cinegy CG interface. Additionally, the release of Cinegy Title Studio is anticipated in the coming months.

Welcome to Cinegy CG v24.11! This release focuses on streamlining workflows, improving usability, and enhancing design consistency across the tools:

CG interface

Below are the key highlights. For full details, please refer to the release notes.

Key Features and Enhancements

  • Display Link Status for Variables: Icons now indicate whether variables are linked or unlinked, offering a quick overview at a glance.

  • Standardized Template Name Display: The Template: field now shows the exact file name, while the Description: field displays the internal scene name for clarity.

  • Unified Interface Design: Cinegy CG now matches the dark theme and icon style of Cinegy Title for a consistent user experience.

  • Loop Lines and Exit Loop Button: Visual loop markers and an "Exit Loop" button make managing looped scenes intuitive. This feature, already established in Cinegy Title, ensures a smoother workflow.

  • DateTime Picker for Variables: Manual entry of DateTime variables has been disabled, reducing errors. Operators now select values via a DateTime picker.

  • SmartTextBox Integration: The SmartTextBox feature from Cinegy Title is now included in Cinegy CG, enabling users to preview tagged effects (e.g., bold or background color) directly while editing.

These updates bring valuable improvements driven by user feedback. Enjoy the latest features and please do refer to the Release Notes for a complete list of changes.
