Cinegy Multiviewer Layout Designer uses a layer-based approach allowing you to add several objects, both from the dynamic and static groups, to the layout template.

Each object is configured separately and has its own set of properties that are described later in this section.

Adding and Deleting

To add an object to the layout template, press the corresponding button on the controls panel and drag and drop the object to the desired place in the editing area. It will be added to the corresponding group in the layout tree: static or dynamic.

Note
Please note that placing one object on top of the other on the canvas is available only for static controls. Stacking dynamic objects is not allowed. When you try to do so, the dynamic object, being dragged on top of another dynamic object, will drop to the empty place of the editing area.

You can delete the object both from the layout canvas and the layout tree. To delete the object, select it either on the canvas or in the tree and choose the "Delete" command from the context menu or hit the Delete key.

Copying and Cutting

Cinegy Multiviewer Layout Designer allows you to copy/cut objects both within the same layout and between different layouts if your template contains several layouts.

You can copy/cut objects both in the tree and on the canvas.

Copying/Cutting in the Tree

To copy an object in the layout tree, select it there and use the "Copy" command from the context menu or the Ctrl+C keyboard shortcut. To cut an object in the layout tree, select it there and use the "Cut" command from the context menu or the Ctrl+X keyboard shortcut.

Then highlight the object, after which you want to place the copied /cut one, and use the "Paste" command from the context menu or the Ctrl+V keyboard shortcut.

Copying/Cutting on the Canvas

To copy/cut an object on the canvas, select it and press the Ctrl+C/Ctrl+XCtrl+V keyboard shortcuts. The copied/cut object will be placed on top of the original object.

If you use the "Copy"/"Cut" – "Paste" commands from the context menu to copy/cut an object on the canvas, it will be placed on any empty place in the editing area.

Selecting

Click the object in the editing area to select it. For a multiple selection, hold down the Shift key. To select all the objects on the canvas, use the Ctrl+A shortcut or the "Select All" command from the "Edit" main menu. While holding down the Ctrl key you can select/deselect individual objects. You can also hold down the left mouse button and draw the rectangle area; all objects enclosed in that area will be selected.

Transforming

After adding the object to the layout, it is displayed on the canvas with a yellow rectangular bounding box. On each corner and in the middle of each side there are transformation handles. These handles can be directly selected and used to change the bounding box attributes.

Moving

To change the object position on the canvas, click anywhere inside the bounding box and drag the object to the desired location.

There is the "Position" section on the properties panel for every object type. You can change the object position on the canvas by changing the "Left"/"Top" parameters:

object_position

To change any margin of the object, press the up/down arrow button for the corresponding field or enter a desired value via the keyboard.

show_hide_buttons

Use these buttons to expand sections on the properties panel or roll them up.

Note
Please note that you cannot place dynamic objects on top of one another.

Scaling

It is possible to scale an object horizontally, vertically, or in both directions at once.

To scale the object both horizontally and vertically, drag one of the corner handles. To scale the object either horizontally or vertically, drag a center handle.

There is the "Position" section on the properties panel for every object type. You can scale the selected object by changing its "Width"/"Height" parameters.

Note
Please note that if the dynamic object being scaled overlaps another dynamic object, this transformation will not be applied.
